After careful growth and selection, a 2.8 g seed crystal of CuSO4 was suspended in saturated solution on 12/20/96. After returning from semester break on 1/6/97, our baby crystal had grown to a healthy 31.8 g as pictured below. Over 10-fold growth in 17 days. By April, Big Blue was over a kilogram and maxed out at 1146 g. |
